Hopscotch brings together six artists whose works originate from a desire to dismantle creative, personal or social realms to in return constitute alternative modes of representation and comprehension of art. Intervening into established systems and aesthetic standards—physically or metaphorically—these artists deconstruct and rebuild assumptions, systems or habits that prevail our existence. Through disruption, intervention, and reformation, the works question the role of an artist as a social analyst. Organized by Osman Can Yerebakan, the exhibition brings together work by Michael Blake, Rachel Granofsky, Joyce Kim, Daniel Kukla, Iz Oztat, and Ryan Russo.
Daniel Kukla was selected as Artist in Residence at Saguaro National Park, Arizona.
Dec. 26 - Jan. 1, The New Yorker's Instagram takeover with images and video from Daniel's most recent residency in the Brazilian Amazon. 2016
"I'm pleased to announce that The New Yorker has asked me to take over their Instagram account from December 26, 2016 to January 1, 2017. During this time I will be posting images and videos from my most recent artist residency in the Brazilian Amazon. While hiking and floating through the Amazonian forests and rivers, I documented natural elements both beautiful and bizarre. As in my other work you will notice a close attention to the quiet and concealed processes at work within the environment. Please follow along in the coming week to get a glimpse of my personal experiences."
